Railway track location estimation using onboard inertial sensors

چکیده
In railways, using a track- and ride-quality monitoring system on in-service train has become desirable for coordination security. Identification of the or train-related rough rides via crew can be estimated to nearest kilometre. However, if is equipped with better location track quality evaluation provided. These systems commonly use information such as GNSS and/or an odometer provide information. This work proposes practical method alignment estimation real data from in-cab inertial measurement also novel based crosslevel variations. The speed done through speed-related harmonics detected sensors, which depend characteristics; distance correction provided by comparing derived sensors reference geometry. effectiveness accuracy demonstrated collected between London Ashford.

Step Length Estimation Using Handheld Inertial Sensors
In this paper a novel step length model using a handheld Micro Electrical Mechanical System (MEMS) is presented. It combines the user's step frequency and height with a set of three parameters for estimating step length. The model has been developed and trained using 12 different subjects: six men and six women. For reliable estimation of the step frequency with a handheld device, the frequency...
متن کاملContext-Based Fall Detection Using Inertial and Location Sensors
Falls are some of the most common sources of injury among the elderly. A fall is particularly critical when the elderly person is injured and cannot call for help. This problem is addressed by many fall-detection systems, but they often focus on isolated falls under restricted conditions, neglecting complex, real-life situations. In this paper a combination of body-worn inertial and location se...
متن کاملRailway track inspection using GPR
Ž . Swiss Federal Railways SBB inspect their railway tracks at regular intervals. The first step of track renewal planning is a geotechnical study. Inspection is focused on the thickness of the ballast, on subsoil material penetrating upwards into the ballast and on geotechnical properties of subgrade and subsoil materials. Up to now, the inspection has been done mainly by digging trenches at e...
متن کاملPose estimation using line-based dynamic vision and inertial sensors
In this paper, an observer problem from a computer vision application is studied. Rigid body pose estimation using inertial sensors and a monocular camera is considered and it is shown how rotation estimation can be decoupled from position estimation. Orientation estimation is formulated as an observer problem with implicit output where the states evolve on (3). A careful observability study re...
متن کاملUsing Inertial Sensors for Position and Orientation Estimation
In recent years, microelectromechanical system (MEMS) inertial sensors (3D accelerometers and 3D gyroscopes) have become widely available due to their small size and low cost. Inertial sensor measurements are obtained at high sampling rates and can be integrated to obtain position and orientation information. These estimates are accurate on a short time scale, but suffer from integration drift ...
